Kickoff meeting
DIVERSIFY4Future has officially kicked off on 1 June 2026 in Thessaloniki and this is our very first news!
Over the next four years, our team will work to diversify European aquaculture by bringing more low‑trophic species, organic and integrated multi‑trophic aquaculture (IMTA), and aquaponic–polyculture systems into real‑world practice.
DIVERSIFY4Future – Diversifying aquaculture for the future: inclusion of low‑trophic species for sustainable, innovative, healthy and circular food systems – is a Horizon Europe Innovation Action under Cluster 6 “Food, Bioeconomy, Natural Resources, Agriculture and Environment”.
Coordinated by Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), our consortium of 33 organisations from across Europe and associated countries will test new production models in six key regions, generate environmental and socio‑economic evidence, and work closely with farmers, SMEs, consumers and policymakers. Earlier this month, our kick-off meeting in Thessaloniki was such a blast and a great moment to connect faces, align expectations and start planning our case studies and stakeholder activities together.
We’ll share stories from our case studies, introduce project partners, and give a behind‑the‑scenes look at how we’re trying to make aquaculture more sustainable, resilient and accepted by society. If you’re interested in aquaculture, blue food, sustainability or Horizon Europe projects, follow our journey and stay tuned for more updates from DIVERSIFY4Future.
